On-loan Chelsea defender Nathan Ake has admitted his lack of game time at Bournemouth this season has been eating away at him as the 21-year-old expressed his desire to play more for the Cherries.

Eddie Howe's side signed Ake from Chelsea on a season-long loan in June after the full-back, who can also play in midfield, spent the 2015/16 campaign at Watford where he impressed and was named the Hornets' Young Player of the Year.

But the full-back has since played just two Premier League games for Bournemouth this season - against West Ham and Crystal Palace while making appearances in the EFL Cup against Preston and Morecambe - prompting Ake to reveal his frustrations at sitting on the bench.

He told Dutch outlet Voetbal International: "I wanted to draw a line under last season, but that has not yet happened.

"The competition at my club is great. For now I'm still on the bench.

"It eats you, I want to play every week."
