Chelsea expect to complete £27m signing of Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas as soon as the Catalan giants conclude a deal for his replacement Ivan Rakitic.

Fabregas agreed to a four-year contract worth £156,000-a-week to join Chelsea last week after being told by Barcelona that he was no longer part of their plans.

Barcelona have been in negotiations with Sevilla over a £16m switch for Croatia star Rakitic for the past few days and hope the offer of midfielder Denis Suarez from their B side will finalise the transfer.
