Chris Powell is more than happy to enter the Lions' Den

Chris Powell is convinced his Charlton side can carry on their fine away form when they take on promotion hopefuls Millwall at The Den tomorrow.

Though Ricardo Fuller is a doubt after suffering a hamstring injury while scoring a brilliant opener in Tuesday’s 2-0 win over Peterborough, boss Powell held back certain players to ensure they would be ready to take on the Lions.

Midfielder Dale Stephens and forward Danny Haynes were left out on Tuesday night and Powell said: “We’ve lost one game in eight and are playing a team who are in a really good place.

“But we have done particularly well away from home this year and I will be looking to continue that at a place that can test you on and off the field.”

Charlton bounced back from a 4-1 home defeat against Middlesbrough by beating leaders Cardiff and then winning at Bristol City and Burnley, with only a late Huddersfield equaliser preventing them gaining a maximum 15 points from their last five games.

Powell has been especially pleased with on-loan Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong.

He said: “He is still getting used to the pace of the Championship but he wants to be on the ball and has been well schooled by Arsenal. Emmanuel will get stronger and better.”
