Benteke's off the mark, way off the mark...

Christian Benteke is already off the mark following his £27million move to Crystal Palace, but unfortunately for the Belgian, it was a social media own goal.

Fresh from completely his transfer from Liverpool to Selhurst Park, the 25-year-old quickly updated his official Twitter account with the news.

Possibly too quickly, it seems…

Instead of listing Crystal Palace, CPFC, or Eagles, Benteke instead wrote Burnley as his new destination.

His mistake was swiftly corrected following surprised comments from Palace fans.

On the move he wrote: “New chapter. New beginning. New family.”

In a statement released earlier on the club’s website, he said: “I’m very happy to commit my future to Crystal Palace and I’m looking forward to meeting the manager, the players and the staff.

“I feel really happy that the deal has been done and now I can look forward.”

Palace take on Tottenham in today’s London derby, but Benteke was not registered in time to feature for Alan Pardew’s side.
