Crystal Palace midfielder Max Meyer is set to make his second start for the Eagles against West Brom in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday.

The 23-year-old has been limited to four substitute appearances in the Premier League since his free transfer to Palace from Schalke in the summer.

But Meyer, who started in the last round at Swansea, is expected to be named in the team against West Brom at the Hawthorns.

“Max knitted our play together very well when he came on against Newcastle,” said Palace manager Roy Hodgson. “He is very lively and he is always in my thoughts to play.

“He has been training very well, and we like what we see. He is a Premier League player and will keep on showing that.”

Hodgson is set to change most of the team from Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Newcastle and Jason Puncheon, Jairo Riedewald and Jeffrey Schlupp are all likely to come in.

Vincente Guaita, who like Meyer is yet to start a Premier League game for Palace since his summer move to Selhurst Park, will start in goal.

Alexander Sorloth is set to start up front after he scored the winner against Swnasea in the previous round.

Wilfried Zaha is likely to be rested for the trip to the Midlands. Hodgson said Zaha was suffering from a minor back strain against Newcastle and he will want to keep the forward fresh for next Monday’s trip to Bournemouth
