Alan Pardew had a positive meeting with Crystal Palace’s American co-owners in New York during the international break.

Pardew and Palace chairman Steve Parish met Joshua Harris and David Blitzer to discuss issues including the club’s poor form and plans for the January transfer window.

“It was a productive meeting with the owners,” said Pardew. “We talked about everything you would expect owners to talk about in that situation. They are tremendously supportive.

“We were talking about the stadium, which we know we have got issues with, and the training ground for the academy which we need to improve. They were our two main focuses. And also the transfer window which we had some debate on.”

Pardew was pictured having dinner with Frank Lampard during his time in America but said they did not discuss the possibility of the 38-year-old joining Palace. Lampard is leaving MLS side New York City and Pardew said: “It sounds like he is looking for another avenue now. We did not discuss that being here.”

Palace face Man City tomorrow after four straight defeats. But Pardew does not think they are in a relegation battle “I think we are in a position which is false and we need to put that right,” he said.

Palace will be without keeper Steve Mandanda because of a knee injury he suffered on international duty with France.
