Christian Benteke has put his impressive start to life at Crystal Palace down to a turn in luck.

The Belgium international arrived at Selhurst Park for a club-record £27million fee in August after a difficult 12 months at Liverpool.

Benteke was signed by Brendan Rodgers last summer, but following a managerial change at Liverpool was handed just eight Premier League starts, scoring seven.

Since arriving at Palace the towering forward has scored three in five league starts and puts a lot of that down to the faith shown by new boss Alan Pardew.

And Benteke hopes to continue his rich scoring form with Palace, who are unbeaten in the five Premier League games since his arrival.

“I’m not the only striker in form, but I’m good. I’m happy to be in this vein of form, I’m going to take advantage of it. After the bad luck, I’m trying to make the most of my good luck.”

He added: “I’m trying to repay through my performances the price they paid for me.

"I don’t think my form will change things (in the Belgium squad). What’s most important is to be ready, and I am.”
