Crystal Palace's Emmanuel Adebayor free to face Tottenham in FA Cup fifth round

Emmanuel Adebayor can play against Tottenham in the FA Cup, even though they are still paying some of his wages.

The striker left Spurs last September but they are thought to be contributing around £35,000 towards his weekly salary after he joined Crystal Palace. But there is nothing to stop Adebayor facing his former club when Palace play at White Hart Lane in the fifth round.

The 31-year-old is in line to make his Palace debut against Bournemouth tomorrow.

Adebayor has not played in the Premier League since last May but Palace defender Joel Ward says the forward is “looking sharp”.

“He has scored some great goals in training,” added Ward.

“He has been training well and it will be good to see him when he is firing on all cylinders. He has been great so far and settled in well.”
