Wilfried Zaha looks set for Crystal Palace stay as transfer hopes dwindle

Wilfried Zaha is due back at Crystal Palace this week as it looks increasingly unlikely he will secure a move away from Selhurst Park this summer.

Everton have had a £55million bid for Zaha rejected and Palace have made it clear they do not want to sell the winger, with 10 days to go before the transfer window closes.

Palace believe they would now be unable to find a replacement and will not accept an offer below their £80m valuation, meaning Everton are set to be priced out of a move as their bid falls well short of that figure.

Zaha had his heart set on a move to Arsenal but the Gunners have turned their attention to a £72m deal for Lille forward Nicolas Pepe instead.

Arsenal have already spent £27m on defender William Saliba and a reported £15m loan fee for Dani Ceballos this week, leaving little room in their transfer budget for Zaha.

It leaves the 26-year-old facing the prospect of staying at Palace, despite admitting in an interview earlier this summer that he wanted a new challenge.

Zaha has been given an extended summer break by Palace after playing for Ivory Coast at the Africa Cup of Nations but the Eagles hierarchy expect him to return for pre-season training this week.

Despite making it clear he wants to leave, Zaha has not submitted a transfer request and it is highly unlikely he would agitate aggressively for a move. Zaha enjoys a strong relationship with Palace chairman Steve Parish.
