Wilfried Zaha’s Crystal Palace teammates can understand his reasons for wanting to leave and have no issue with him outlining his desire to join a Champions League club.

Zaha said in an interview with the Daily Mail last week he was “too ambitious” to stay at Palace and made it clear he wants to challenge for major trophies.

Palace fear they can no longer keep hold of their prized asset but they will demand more than £75million for the Ivory Coast international.

Tottenham have a long-standing interest in Zaha, while Borussia Dortmund are among the clubs who are interested in him.

Zaha has said he wants to play at the “very highest level” and Palace defender Scott Dann says Palace players have no problem if him wants to leave to better himself.

“Every player wants to play at the highest level,” admitted Dann. “He has not said anything untoward. He is striving to be the best he can be and if that means he has to move on at some stage then that is the way it goes. When you have got that type of quality, there is no doubt there are teams who are going to be looking at him.

“But we know, because of the way he trains and the way, that it will not change his performance as long as he is here. He will keep performing like he did against Arsenal on Saturday. When he is like that, he is unplayable.

“There are not many out there who can do what he can do. He has got the qualities to play at the very top. Of course we would not want to lose him, but if something happens in the summer and he goes then I am sure it will be in the right way. And he is not going to go on the cheap, that is for sure.”

Zaha starred for Palace in their 3-2 win at Arsenal on Sunday and after the game he said: “I am a Palace player right now. I do not know what my future holds but I am here at Palace and that is all that is on my mind.”
