Anthony Martial’s second half header saw Manchester United come away from Moscow with a point after the French youngster demonstrated his mental toughness once again.

His handball in the first half presented Moscow with the chance to open the scoring, and despite David de Gea keeping out the initial spot kick only for an unfortunate ricochet off his leg to present Seydou Doumbia with a simple tap-in.

CSKA would protect their lead until just after the hour mark, when Martial showed good movement in the penalty area before finding the bottom left corner of Igor Akinfeev’s goal with a pin-poiny header.

The draw, coupled with Wolfsburg’s victory over PSV Eindhoven, sees Van Gaal’s side go second in Group B on goal difference.
