Former England captain David Beckham has praised Tottenham duo Dele Alli and Harry Kane for their impressive displays this season.

Spurs are riding high in second place in the Premier League table, despite boasting one of the youngest squads in the division, and the two Englishman have been among their leading performers.

Alli has enjoyed a superb start to his Premier League career, having scored seven goals in 24 top-flight appearances, and is on course to secure a place in Roy Hodgson's Euro 2016 squad this summer.

Alli's meteoric rise has caught Beckham's eye and the former midfielder is delighted the Spurs teenager has been given a chance to prove his worth.

“I have been really impressed by Dele Alli. He has had a great season at Spurs,” he told Talksport.

“It is great to see young players coming through and playing with the enjoyment that you want them to play with.

“It is what Roy done so well - he has brought so many young players into the squad and given them the chance to play on the biggest stage."

Kane made his breakthrough during the previous campaign but has shrugged off suggestions he could be one-season wonder by notching 16 Premier League goals this term.

The 22-year-old could be given a chance to lead England's front line in France and Beckham is adamant Kane's form - and refreshing approach to the game - is cause for excitement ahead of the tournament.

“Harry Kane – you see a player like that and he has got an honesty about the way he plays and that is what I love seeing about the way he plays the game.

“He works hard and you can tell he cares about the game and you can tell he cares about playing for our country.

"Seeing players like that play on the biggest stage is exciting and I am looking forward to the Euros,” he added.
