David Luiz has revealed that Chelsea's draw with Premier League rivals Liverpool on Tuesday has injected the Blues squad with confidence ahead of their London derby clash with Arsenal this weekend.

The Brazilian defender scored at Anfield in what was his 100th Premier League appearance for Chelsea, which helped Antonio Conte's men walk away from the league game with a hardfought point.

The result sent Chelsea nine points clear of second-placed Tottenham and third-placed Arsenal, the latter of which they now host at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.

Luiz admits securing a point away to Liverpool was important for Chelsea's confidence heading into their game with Arsenal - who they lost to 3-0 in the reverse fixture in September - because Jurgen Klopp's men were difficult opponents.

"It’s never easy to play here and to win points here," Luiz said.

"We had the opportunity to win the game and we were unlucky we didn’t win. But the other team also played very well in possession, they have amazing players.

"This is the atmosphere that when you are a footballer you need to be happy you have the opportunity to play this kind of game. It’s always very nice to come here and play football.

"In the end, if you look at everything, I think it was a good result and a good point. It gives us confidence before Arsenal."
