David Luiz: The Chelsea players must show the mentality of 'big clubs'

EXCLUSIVE

David Luiz has called on his Chelsea teammates to be "strong" and show the right mentality against Manchester United on Sunday.

Antonio Conte's side suffered a disappointing 3-0 loss to Roma in the Champions League on Tuesday, which was Chelsea's fourth defeat in all competitions this season.

The result saw the Blues drop into second place in their Champions League group while, in the Premier League, the reigning champions trail leaders Manchester City by nine points.

With Chelsea now hosting second-placed Manchester United on Sunday, Luiz admits the clash at Stamford Bridge is "massive" for their Premier League title ambitions.

In an exclusive interview with Standard Sport, the defender said: "Every week is a big week for Chelsea, when you play for big clubs you need to win all your games.

"And you need to learn when you lose. You must improve to do better. We have a big game against a big team. It'll be a tough game, we need to be ready.

"We need to understand why you are here - you are here because you play for a big club, big players need to have a great mentality. These things happen sometimes, and we must be strong."

The defender was speaking to Standard Sport at Stamford Bridge where he, Alvaro Morata, Cesc Fabregas and Danny Drinkwater helped unveil Hublot's new Big Bang Chelsea watch, the second timepiece the Swiss watchmaker has created in partnership with the Blues.
