Captain Iker Casillas insists he would like to see Real Madrid sign Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea.

The 34-year-old, linked with a summer move to Arsenal, will another summer of uncertainty over his long-term future at the Bernabeu.

Following another lacklustre campaign and more high-profile mistakes, the Liga giants are keen to replace the Spain No1 with Manchester United’s De Gea and, while Casillas insists he would welcome the 24-year-old to the club.

Asked whether he would like to see De Gea arrive at the Bernabeu Casillas told reporters: “Of course I would."

However, when asked if he would be at the Bernabeu himself next season, a defiant Casillas added: “Yes, I will be [at Real Madrid next season].”

Talk over a move De Gea increased last week after Louis van Gaal conceded that United’s star man could leave the club, although it is believed that the reception he received after the 1-1 home draw with Arsenal could yet convince him to stay at Old Trafford.
