Dele Alli has vowed to keep working hard both on and off the pitch after signing a new five-year deal at Tottenham today.

The 19-year-old joined up with Mauricio Pochettino's side in the summer but has taken the step up from the third tier to elite level in his stride.

Despite early suggestions the youngster would be sent on loan to receive regular game time, the midfielder has firmly established himself in Spurs' starting line-up.

Alli has scored five goals in 18 Premier League appearances - which has also led to international recognition from England ahead of Euro 2016.

But the teenager does not intend to rest on his laurels now that he has committed his long-term future to the Lilywhites and wants to improve even further.

"Even with the contract nothing changes - I'm still going keep trying hard and working on and off the pitch and doing as well as I can," he told the club's official website.

"I've got great support around me and great people around me to help me keep my feet on the floor and keep focusing on the football.

"We've got a great young team and I can see us going forward so I'm happy to be here."

Alli dismissed the suggestion the transition from League One to the top tier has been easy and believes a proportion of his progress must be attributed to his teammates.

"It wasn't easy - I can't say it's been easy - but there's a great bunch of boys here.

"They've all helped me settle in well and I can't them thank enough.

"They've made it easy for me to go out there and do my stuff," he insisted.

The England international also revealed the philosophy employed by Pochettino influenced his decision to join Spurs ahead of other clubs.

"When I moved from MK with the philosophy they had there as a club it was important I found that wherever I went.

"The football here really fits me as a player and all the people have really helped me. I've got a lot to learn and this is a great club to do that."
