Palace plea: Arsenal fan sends letter to the Queen... and gets response

A cheeky Arsenal fan seeking tickets for the FA Cup final at Wembley resorted to desperate measures in a bid to see his team take on Aston Villa.

Having seemingly exhausted other avenues of laying his hands on a pair of tickets for the 30 May match, Charlie Pearce did what any right-minded person would do, ask the Queen for her help.

Incredibly, desperate Charlie actually received a response from Buckingham Palace.

"Dear Charlie, The Queen has asked me to thank you for your letter," it promisingly began.

However, the letter from Her Majesty's Senior Correspondence Officer went on to inform Charlie that the Queen was unable to provide tickets for him or his friend Leo.

"I am afraid that this is not a matter with which Her Majesty would be able to assist you. I am sorry to send you a disappointing reply."

Whilst Charlie and Leo won't be going, the Queen's grandson will be. Aston Villa fan Prince William is set to hand the winner the FA Cup trophy.

Here's the letter in full...

Dear Charlie,

The Queen has asked me to thank you for your letter of 5th May, telling Her Majesty how pleased you are that your favourite football team, Arsenal, are in the FA Cup Final which will be held at Wembley on 30th May.

Your request for The Queen to help you get tickets for yourself and your friend Leo Murphy has been carefully noted, however, I am afraid that this is not a matter with which Her Majesty would be able to assist you.

I am sorry to send you a disappointing reply. Nevertheless, The Queen hopes you will enjoy the football match and I am to convey Her Majesty's warm good wishes to you and to your friend Leo for the future.

Yours sincerely,
