Diafra Sahko will have a scan on Wednesday to confirm the severity of the thigh injury he sustained in Saturday’s 1-1 draw against West Brom.

Reports suggest that Sakho could be out for three months after hobbling off at the Boleyn Ground but the full extent of his injury won’t be confirmed until after West Ham receive the results of his assessment.

The striker’s injury came in the second half after he stretched to shoot against the side netting.

His absence will be a concern to Hammers boss Slaven Bilic who has entrusted Sakho as his main frontman this campaign ahead of England international Andy Carroll.

Bilic has also lost club talisman Dimitri Payet and fellow forward Enner Valencia to long term injuries in recent weeks.

"It doesn't look good. It's a big blow for us, he's a key player," said Bilic.

"You can see injuries in every club and to be fair the number who are missing is not a lot, but the ones missing are key players who play in the same position.

"Valencia, Payet, and now Sakho. It is very hard to replace them."

Injuries to Sakho and Valencia may mean that Carroll could regain his position in the starting XI ahead of West Ham’s key fixture against Manchester United this weekend.
