Diego Costa will "have to" leave Chelsea this summer if he receives another financially lucrative offer from the Chinese Super League, according to Marcel Desailly.

The Spaniard has been linked with a move away from Chelsea throughout his three years at Stamford bridge and recently suggested he has still not settled in west London.

Costa was the subject an £80million offer from Chinese Super League club Tianjin Quanjian in January but Chelsea blocked the move.

The 28-year-old's form has dipped during the second half of the season, having scored just three goals since January 22, and although Costa remains Antonio Conte's first-choice striker Desailly believes he should leave if he is not happy.

“He should go if he feels [like it]," Desailly told Talksport.

“Money now in modern football is high and if a Chinese or another rich team comes for him in the summer, he will have to go.

“Fans don’t attach themselves to the players, it’s the club, the club is the most important thing.

“But if I was him I would stay - nobody could put him in danger of losing his place at Chelsea.”

Despite ongoing uncertainty over Costa's long-term future, the striker has been an integral part of Chelsea's title bid this season.

Costa has scored 17 goals in 29 top-flight appearances and would not be difficult to replace.
