Eden Hazard edges out N'Golo Kante in player of the year battle, says Danny Murphy

N'Golo Kante has been the player of the year for many people but Eden Hazard would be my choice.

It is far easier to destroy than create. Creating is the hardest task in football and Hazard is a game-changer. Every time I have watched him live this season, he has been incredible.

He was the difference in Chelsea’s recent FA Cup quarter-final win over Manchester United, as he has been in many games. If you’re an opponent and you see his name missing from the team sheet, you are absolutely delighted. It is the same with Kante, who is a brilliant midfielder. He covers so much ground, makes tackles and interceptions, but he won’t play a killer pass.

That is why Hazard remains their key man.

It will be interesting to see whether Wilfried Zaha can ever reach their level. He has shown for Crystal Palace this season that he has the potential to join a top team but his end product could be better.

He has only five League goals this season and should score more.
