Eden Hazard is in no rush to sign a new contract at Chelsea but will hold more talks with the west London club later in the season.

The Belgium international’s £200,000-a-week deal ends in 2020 but he is a target for Real Madrid.

Standard Sport revealed in May that Chelsea had opened negotiations by telling Hazard they want to make him the focal point of the team for years to come.

However, the 26-year-old fractured his ankle in June, delaying any possibility of an agreement in the summer. Chelsea are prepared to offer Hazard £300,000 a week to secure his long-term future, and are confident they can get their star player to stay.

Hazard has scored eight goals in his last 10 appearances but has consistently spoken of his dream to one day play for Madrid.

Recently Hazard gave mixed messages saying: “I am always very fine at this club. When I feel the desire to leave, I’ll leave.”
