Edgar Davids’ light is fading fast

Ian Gibb11 April 2012

Crystal Palace have become the sick travellers of the Championship with four consecutive defeats, no goals scored and 12 conceded away from Selhurst Park.

Bringing back Edgar Davids after just one training session following compassionate leave, failed badly as Palace were thumped 5-0 at Derby.

The former Holland superstar looked lost in midfield, got booked, was moved to left-back — where he struggled even more — and then returned to the middle in the second half where he at least improved in a dire team performance.

At 37, one has to wonder whether he is in the side for his name rather than his form.
