Some Championship football fans were left unable to follow the start of their teams' return to action on Saturday after an issue affecting streaming service iFollow.

With no supporters permitted inside stadiums for the resumption of the 2019-20 campaign, 30 of the final 108 second-tier fixtures are being broadcast live on Sky Sports, with season ticket holders, at the discretion of individual clubs, able to view remaining fixtures involving their teams via the iFollow (or equivalent streaming) service with the use of promotional codes.

Non-season ticket holders, meanwhile, are able to purchase individual match passes.

However, a technical issue initially prevented fans of some clubs from logging in to watch their respective sides as games kicked off on Saturday, with plenty of complaints registered across social media and the EFL apologising for the inconvenience caused.

"The EFL is aware of an issue affecting some supporters attempting to currently log in to the iFollow service," the league said in a statement.

“We are working with our partners and suppliers to resolve the problem and apologise to supporters for any inconvenience caused. We will provide a further update as soon as possible.”

The issue was then corrected, with the EFL adding: "The EFL has been informed that the earlier reported log in issue has now been resolved.

"Any supporters still experiencing issues please use the iFollow support live chat tool on your Club website. We apologise to supporters for the inconvenience caused."

The 2019-20 Championship action resumed on Saturday lunchtime with a west London derby at Craven Cottage, where late goals from Said Benrahma and Emiliano Marcondes secured a vital victory for Brentford over fellow promotion chasers Fulham.
