Emiliano Martinez broke down in tears after helping Arsenal win the FA Cup with a 2-1 win over Chelsea.

The Argentinian was brought into the side to replace the injured Bernd Leno after the German suffered a knee injury against Brighton in June.

Martinez has impressed in between the sticks in recent weeks and made a crucial save to deny Christian Pulisic in the first half to keep the score at 1-0.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's double helped Arsenal complete the turnaround to seal their 14th FA Cup and qualify for the Europa League next season.

Martinez's rise to prominence has not gone unnoticed, with the goalkeeper loaned out six times during his Gunners career, but now looks to have finally nailed down a spot in the first-team squad.

And when asked to describe his emotions, the 27-year-old was visibly emotional and struggled to get the words out, before paying tribute to Aubameyang.

"I can't believe it. My family... I can't really talk sorry," he said to BBC Sport.

After composing himself, Martinez added: "I said to him [Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang] before the game, you are going to win us the game. He delivered."

Aubameyang then paid tribute to Martinez

"Big respect for this man [Martinez]. We enjoyed today. We are so happy," the Gabon international said.

"As you can see, Emi is crying. That shows, that winning this game and this trophy makes us so happy."
