Emiliano Martinez is convinced he will become Arsenal's number one goalkeeper in the future.
The 24-year-old joined Arsenal from Independiente in 2012 but has only made a handful of senior appearances for the Gunners.
With competition for places fierce Martinez has spent time on loan at Oxford United, Sheffield Wednesday, Rotherham and Wolves in recent years in an effort to prove his worth.
The Argentinian has not been sent on loan this season but is yet to receive any game time at Emirates Stadium, with Petr Cech and David Ospina still ahead of him in the pecking order.
However, Martinez remains determined to force his way into Arsene Wenger's starting line up, having already display a degree of patience to make it this far.
"I knew I wasn't going to play much but the boss said 'I want you to learn from Cech and you can become the Arsenal number one'," he told the club's official website.
"That's my target. When you train every day of the week with Petr Cech who has been at the top of the game for like 10-15 years you learn.
"The chance will come so I need to be ready.
“I’ve always been positive. When I came here, I had eight goalkeepers in front of me and that’s when I thought, ’It’s going to be a long journey’.
"Year by year I’ve been growing, getting bigger, more powerful and so I thought, ‘Why not?’.
"I won’t stop until I’m the Arsenal number one," Martinez insisted.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have endured disappointing back-to-back defeats to Watford and Chelsea in recent weeks.
But Shkodran Mustafi is refusing to give up on the Gunners' title challenge ahead of this week's clash against Hull City.
