Emmanuel Adebayor is set to feature in Tottenham's FA Cup third-round clash with Coventry at White Hart Lane, but the Togo star's future beyond that remains in doubt.

Adebayor is due to link up with his national team for the African Nations Cup which starts on January 19, but there are doubts about his involvement after a row over unpaid bonuses.

Spurs assistant coach Steffen Freund said: "We don't know yet (whether he will go). We have to wait.

"We would love him in the squad and that he would not go to the African Nations Cup, but it's a massive tournament and we respect his decision."

Adkins said: "I want to go and win the game against Chelsea, but I also have to be mindful that we have had a run of fixtures that are very close together."

Cole has had a medical at the club after being deemed surplus to requirements by Brendan Rodgers at Anfield, but he has to be registered by midday on Friday in order to face Sir Alex Ferguson's men.
