Liverpool’s match-winner Emre Can is convinced the Reds can beat their rivals in the race for a top four spot after their 1-0 win over Watford.

Can’s stunning volley secured victory for Jurgen Klopp’s side at Vicarage Road in a match low on quality barring its only goal.

The victory pushed Liverpool four points clear of fifth-placed Manchester United, with Arsenal a further five back, and ensured they took advantage of a weekend in which none of the six teams immediately below them won.

“Everything is in our hands,” Can told Sky Sports. “If we win the three games we are in the Champions League. I think we are confident enough.

“We have a good team and if we perform how we can perform then we can play in the Champions League.”

Can’s strike in first-half stoppage time, an acrobatic bicycle kick off a Lucas Leiva chip, was all that separated the two sides and the German international was in no doubt where it ranked among the goals he has scored in his career.

"I have never scored a goal like that, just when I was younger. It was a very important match for us.

"I saw the space and I ran behind and my first thought was that I wanted to head it, then I didn't think too much and I scored a beauty like that," he said of the goal.
