Tin Jedvaj believes Croatia have already proved they can handle whatever England throw at him as they prepare for Sunday’s winner-takes-all showdown at Wembley.

Jedvaj scored twice, with Andrej Kramaric also on target as Croatia produced a stunning 3-2 win over Spain, meaning that if there is a victor at Wembley, that team will guarantee themselves a place in next summer’s Nations League Finals.

England will approach the game with confidence after their 3-2 win in Spain last month, and the fact they were able to rest key players as they defeated the US 3-0 in a friendly on Thursday. Croatia could not allow themselves to do the same given the competitive nature of the fixture - but Jedvaj remains confident Croatia can repeat their 2-1 win over England in the World Cup semi-finals.

He said: “In Russia, we proved that we could beat them without any problems and that they aren’t better than us.

“We might even be favourites despite the fact we are playing away — I don’t know. Our late goal against Spain is the motivation for us to go for a win against England. They are England but we can win and top the group.”
