England legend Geoff Hurst planning Declan Rice pep talk ahead of Euros final

England World Cup winner Sir Geoff Hurst has been invited to Wembley by the FA and will deliver a pre-match pep talk to West Ham's Declan Rice this afternoon.

Hurst, 79, scored a hat-trick to help win the World Cup in England's last major tournament final in 1966 and will attend Sunday's showpiece with his wife, Judith.

The striker was one of three West Ham players in the World Cup winning side of 55-years ago and was set to speak to the sole east London representative in the current England squad, Rice, this afternoon ahead of the biggest game of his career.

"He has had a great season for our club, who have had a fantastic season," Hurst said of Rice, speaking to Good Morning Britain.

"He has really, right from the beginning, settled into the England team as a youngster and a novice and he is now one of the main choices to come in that very important middle of the park, along with [Kalvin] Phillips, who have done a fantastic job.

"I'm absolutely delighted for Declan, 22 years of age, I'm talking to him this afternoon so I'm looking forward to that."
