England captain Harry Kane blasts fans who targeted black players with racist abuse: ‘We don’t want you’

Harry Kane has issued a clear message to the individuals who have targeted black players with racial abuse, warning: ‘You aren’t England fans and we don’t want you’.

Bukayo Saka, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho have all been subject to abuse on social media after missing their penalties in Sunday’s Euro 2020 final shootout defeat to Italy.

Gareth Southgate, Prime Minister Boris Johnson and HRH Prince William are among those to have condemned the abuse, while a police investigation has been launched.

Writing on Twitter, Kane said: “Three lads who were brilliant all summer had the courage to step up & take a pen when the stakes were high.

“They deserve support & backing not the vile racist abuse they’ve had since last night. If you abuse anyone on social media you’re not an England fan and we don’t want you.”

Earlier, Kane’s England teammate Jude Bellingham - the youngest member of the squad at 18 years old - said he was hurt but “not surprised” by the abuse.

“So proud to have teammates with such top character,” he wrote. “Takes huge bollocks just to volunteer. As for the racism, hurtful but not surprising.

“Will never get bored of saying that more needs to be done. Educate and control the platforms!”
