England were subjected to a random pre-World Cup drugs test at St George’s Park on Sunday night.

Standard Sport can reveal World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) officials operating on behalf of Fifa turned up at the team’s headquarters just before 5pm to conduct tests on every available player.

The group had trained that morning and several squad members were involved in commercial activities at the time they were interrupted by the unannounced arrival.

All players were summoned for a meeting at which they were told of the rules and regulations at this summer’s finals in Russia before they were tested individually.

Chelsea and Manchester United players were included, having joined up with the squad on Saturday evening after being given extended leave following the previous weekend’s FA Cup Final.

Liverpool duo Trent Alexander-Arnold and Jordan Henderson were absent but it is expected they will be tested before England fly to their training base in Repino on June 12.
