Arsenal's Mesut Ozil wishes followers happy Eid ahead of Germany's Euro 2016 semi-final against France

Arsenal star Mesut Ozil took some time out of his preparations for Germany's semi-final clash with France to wish his followers a happy Eid.

The 27-year-old, who was born in Germany to Turkish parents, took to his Twitter account on Tuesday to send a message to his 11.6million followers as Muslims around the world began celebrating the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

"I wish you all a very happy and peaceful Eid. #EidMubarak," he wrote on the social network site.

While Ozil will be celebrating Eid today, he is also likely to be focusing on Germany's upcoming clash with France in Marseille tomorrow night.

Joachim Low's side will take on the Euro 2016 hosts at the Stade Velodrome on Thursday in the hope they can reach the final and add to their World title.

But while France coach Didier Deschamps has a full squad available to him for the semi-final match, Low will have to do without the suspended Mats Hummels, striker Mario Gomez - who was this week ruled out of the rest of the tournament through injury - and potentially also Bastian Schweinsteiger and Sami Khedira.
