England vs Slovakia: Roy Hodgson's future dominates Euro 2016 build-up as Three Lions boss seeks tactical balance

England's hopes of winning Euro 2016 are still very much alive going into their final Group B game against Slovakia.

The Three Lions are sitting pretty with four points from their opening two games against Wales and Russia, though outgoing Football Association chairman Greg Dyke appeared to confirm that Roy Hodgson isn't under heavy pressure to deliver in France.

Hodgson could receive a new contract even if his side are eliminated at the quarter-final stage, according to Dyke.

The 68-year-old’s current deal expires at the end of the tournament and Hodgson has made it clear that he wants to be in place when England begin their bid to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in September.

Hodgson has received the backing of senior England figures including goalkeeper Joe Hart in his bid to earn a new contract and has the support of many in the FA hierarchy, including Dyke.

The outgoing FA chairman said a new deal would not necessarily be linked to the country’s performance at Euro 2016, where England are well-placed to progress into the knockout rounds ahead of Monday’s final group game against Slovakia.
