Adam Lallana was delighted England did their talking on the pitch during today's 2-1 win against Wales at Euro 2016.

The build-up to the Group B game was dominated by Gareth Bale's claim that Wales had more passion than their fellow home nation.

And the Real Madrid forward appeared to have booked his side's place in the knock out stages courtesy of a stunning free kick before the Three Lions mounted a second-half comeback.

Jamie Vardy and Daniel Sturridge were both on target as Roy Hodgson's team claimed top spot and Lallana was thrilled to have got the job done after a disappointing draw with Russia.

"It is everyone's job to build it up," he told the BBC. "England versus Wales is a massive occasion.

"We just want to do our talking on the pitch. It's nice to come out on top," he added.

Lallana started his second game in succession and shone on the right hand side of England's attack but was quick to hail the importance of the entire squad in France.

"These are the games you want to be playing in," said the Liverpool midfielder.

"We said before the game kicked off we would need everyone one of the 23 men in the squad and today showed that."
