Goodbye, Gabor Kiraly: Hungary’s trouser wearing goalkeeper has been one of the stars of Euro 2016

Gabor Kiraly has been, without a doubt, become one of the most popular players at Euro 2016.

The 40-year-old former Crystal Palace goalkeeper – who also spent brief spells at Fulham and West Ham – rolled back the years with some scintillating displays, as Hungary reached the last 16 of the competition.

Sunday night’s clash with Belgium was the 107th time the tracksuit-trouser cladded shot stopper had appeared for his country, and his finger-tip save to deny Kevin de Bruyne’s free kick was instantly lauded by fans and commentators alike.

He repeated the feat to deny Eden Hazard moments after the break. Kiraly was determined to go out in style.

But Hungary would lose 4-0 to the Belgians, and as we wave goodbye to Kiraly, let’s remember some of his best moments from Euro 2016… Hopefully we’ll see him again in two years’ time at the World Cup!
