Harry Redknapp: Jack Wilshere's Euro 2016 looks to be over

Harry Redknapp27 June 2016

Jack Wilshere has surely started his last game for England at Euro 2016.

Unless there are any injuries to the players ahead of him, it is hard to see him making in-roads to the starting line-up tonight or for Sunday’s quarter-final against France if England get there.

I like Wilshere as a player but he had a disappointing night against Slovakia and blew his chance to force his way into Roy’s starting line-up. Dele Alli hasn’t quite done it yet, but with Wayne Rooney certain to come back into midfield and Eric Dier arguably England’s best player in the tournament so far, there’s no place for Wilshere for the time being.

He could influence the game from the bench if England need a bit of creativity to break Iceland down — or replace Rooney if the game is already won — but a bit-part role is probably not what the Arsenal man imagined, given Roy Hodgson was so desperate to call him up in the first place.
