Pogba, Morata, Nainggolan and Matuidi: Meet the Euro 2016 stars linked with a Premier League transfer

Tom Doyle6 July 2016

Major summer tournaments have traditionally operated as a chance for players to put themselves in the shop window, with the added bonus of possible international glory thrown in for good measure.

Euro 2016 is no different to the rest, with Europe's top clubs all busy scouting those representing their nations while plotting to somehow edge out their rivals at an affordable price.

Chelsea have already moved to sign Belgium forward Michy Batshuayi, with the young striker proving in a couple of cameos for the Red Devils just why the Blues looked to agree a five-year deal so quickly after Marc Wilmots' side exited the tournament.

The Blues are also after Batshuayi's Belgium team-mate Radja Nainggolan, though it remains to be seen whether Antonio Conte will continue to play the waiting game as the Roma midfielder pushes for a lucrative contract.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are set to rival Chelsea for Spain striker Alvaro Morata, who netted three goals despite a disappointing exit for La Roja. But with Real Madrid pushing for £57million, the London rivals must be prepared to go all out if they want the 24-year-old to lead the line.

Morata's performances and subsequent price hike following Madrid's decision to re-sign the striker from Juventus prove how big tournaments can significantly impact on transfer fees, though Manchester United may benefit from a relatively quiet Euro 2016 for Paul Pogba.

While the Juventus midfielder has impressed in some game for hosts France, he has yet to prove that United should part with a reported world-record £100m - and Jose Mourinho may privately be hoping that Pogba does not turn in a star performance in Thursday's semi-final against Germany to hand Juve more negotiating power.
