Everton v Manchester United team news: Wayne Rooney named captain as Marouane Fellaini starts on the bench

Wayne Rooney captained Manchester United against his old club Everton as David Moyes returned to Goodison Park for the first time since he left for Old Trafford.

Moyes, Everton manager for 11 years, made four changes, with Alex Buttner, Jonny Evans, Nani and Juan Mata coming into the starting line-up.

Marouane Fellaini was named on the United bench against his former employers, who recalled Steven Naismith and James McCarthy.

Everton: Howard, Coleman, Stones, Distin, Baines, McCarthy,Barry, Lukaku, Barkley, Mirallas, Naismith.

Subs: Robles, Hibbert, McGeady, Deulofeu, Osman, Garbutt, Alcaraz.

Man Utd: De Gea, Jones, Smalling, Evans, Buttner, Carrick, Fletcher, Nani, Mata, Kagawa, Rooney.

Subs: Giggs, Lindegaard, Hernandez, Welbeck, Valencia, Fellaini, Januzaj.
