Standard Sport analyses Chelsea's 1-1 draw with Manchester City at Stamford Bridge.

David Silva struck on the stroke of half-time to deny Chelsea victory in crucial title showdown at Stamford Bridge.

Without top goalscorer Diego Costa, banned for three matches following his antics in the League Cup semi-final win over Liverpool in midweek, Jose Mourinho was widely expected to hand veteran Didier Drogba as starting spot in the side.

But the Chelsea boss instead opted for France international Loic Remy, and the former QPR striker would put the Blues ahead in the 42nd minute.

But their lead would be short lived.

Before the curtain fell on an energetic first half, City talisman David Silva reacted quickest to bring the sides level before the interval.

The draw leaves the title race in the balance, but avoiding defeat at least ensures that Chelsea maintain their five-point advantage heading into February.
