The Premier League marches on as gameweek 16 arrives, ahead of yet another set of midweek fixtures to come as the December schedule kicks in.

FPL managers should be aware of the earlier deadline this week, with Brentford hosting Watford on Friday night to kick proceedings off.

Man City then welcome Wolves to the Etihad for the early kick-off on Saturday afternoon, before Arsenal face Southampton at the Emirates.

Elsewhere on Saturday, Chelsea host Leeds and Steven Gerrard makes his Anfield return as Aston Villa face Liverpool. Ralf Rangnick’s Man United side travel to play Norwich later in the day.

West Ham are away to Burnley on Sunday, while Leicester are at home to Newcastle as they look to put their Europa League exit behind them. The gameweek finishes on Sunday afternoon, when Crystal Palace host an Everton side buoyed by their recent win.

Tottenham’s match with Brighton has been postponed after a Covid-19 outbreak at the north London club.

Here are our Fantasy Premier League tips for gameweek 16...

Goalkeeper

Aaron Ramsdale (Arsenal) | £5.0m

Arsenal have struggled away from home against the top sides in the league this season, but have looked far more secure at the Emirates in matches they are expected to win.

Ramsdale has been one of the Gunners’ best players, and has returned seven FPL points in each of his last two home matches. He’ll be hoping to add to that against Southamtpon.

Defenders

Joao Cancelo (Man City) | £6.8m

Rested against RB Leipzig, Cancelo looks set to return to the side to face Wolves at the Etihad on Saturday afternoon. Bruno Lage’s side have scored just 12 goals all season, and are expected to struggle against a strong City backline.

Cancelo already has five assists in the league this campaign, and is a constant threat in attacking areas.

Marcos Alonso (Chelsea) | £5.7m

Ben Chilwell’s injury has meant Alonso has started the last three Premier League matches for the Blues, who have the joint-best defensive record in the league. At home to Leeds, he should also get plenty of opportunities to get forward and potentially secure an attacking return.

Diogo Dalot (Man United) | £4.4m

With Aaron Wan-Bissaka starting midweek in the Champions League dead rubber, Dalot looks to have a great chance of starting in the league once again for Ralf Rangnick’s side. He kept a clean sheet and looked dangerous against Crystal Palace last weekend, and now faces bottom of the table Norwich.

Andy Robertson (Liverpool) 7.0m

His fellow full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold has been getting all the attention recently, but there have been signs of just how good an FPL asset Robertson is.

The 27-year-old had two assists against Everton and another one against Southampton, and is an appealing alternative to the more expensive Alexander-Arnold.

Midfielders

Jarrod Bowen (West Ham) | £6.5m

The West Ham winger returned a goal and an assist in his side’s win over Chelsea last weekend, and is more than capable of keeping up his good form against Burnley. Bowen already has more assists this season than he’s managed in other Premier League campaign.

Marcus Rashford (Man United) | £9.4m

If Rangnick’s first Premier League match is anything to go by, Rashford could be set for a run in the side as a striker alongside Cristiano Ronaldo in a 4-2-2-2 formation. Registered as a midfielder in FPL, he looks a great pick up against Norwich.

James Maddison (Leicester) | £6.7m

After standout performances in recent weeks against Watford and Southampton, Maddison is likely to be heavily involved once again at home to a Newcastle side that still have plenty of improvement to make defensively.

Demarai Gray (Everton) £5.5m

Still available at an incredibly cheap price, Gray already has five goals and three assists to his name this season. He’ll arrive at Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace on top form and full of confidence.

Forwards

Josh King (Watford) | £5.8m

Watford have given a good account of themselves recently, looking dangerous at times and scoring against both Chelsea and Man City. Up against a Brentford side that have been shipping plenty of goals, Josh King will fancy his chances of getting on the scoresheet.

Callum Wilson (Newcastle) | £7.5m

The game at the King Power promises to have plenty of goals, and there’s nobody better to take advantage of that for Newcastle than Wilson. He’s scored in his last two matches, and could thrive against a leaky Leicester defence.
