Former Chelsea striker Fernando Torres has admitted that winning the Champions League with Atletico Madrid would eclipse his triumph with the Blues in 2012 because he felt "lost" during his days at Stamford Bridge.

Torres endured a difficult four years at Chelsea before sealing a switch back to his boyhood club Atletico in 2015, where he has since enjoyed a revival in form under coach Diego Simeone.

The Spain international is set to start when Atletico attempt to win their first-ever Champions League title on Saturday against fierce rivals Real Madrid, although he has already tasted success in the competition with Chelsea four years ago.

Despite his woes at Stamford Bridge, Torres proved important in Chelsea's Champions League triumph after he scored the second goal in the club's semi-final clash against Barcelona that sent the Blues into the final to face Bayern Munich, who they went on to beat.

But the 32-year-old believes his achievement with Atletico on Saturday, should Los Rojiblancos win the Champions League final, will be better than his triumph with Chelsea because he was not in the right frame of mind while playing for the Blues.

"Nothing would beat winning the Champions League with Atletico," he said.

"I won it with Chelsea, but I was not in a good place. I did not feel I was being treated well at the time - I felt lost.

"I don't want to talk about those moments. My career is going so well, and I feel so at home and full of confidence, that I do not want to relive those days.

"I have never been happier. I love being back [at Atletico], and hope I can stay. I am one of the senior players now and give advice where I can, but I am also learning from the younger players. You can feed off their energy."
