Petre Cech believes Fernando Torres is going to prove he is £50million well spent by starring for Chelsea this season.
The Spain international has been fiercely criticised for his performances since joining from Liverpool in January.
And though he has scored just one goal for the club, he was Chelsea's best player in the 0-0 draw at Stoke yesterday.
Cech insists Torres is a changed man having benefited from a summer break and getting to work more with his new team-mates during pre-season. When asked if he now expects to see the form Torres showed when he scored 65 goals in three-and-a-half seasons for Liverpool, he said: "Yes. It has made a huge difference that he had a pre-season with us.
"It is difficult when you come for such a huge amount of money. There was a lot of pressure and he had some injuries as well.
"Now he has got to know the players and the way that we play.
"He had a really good game against Stoke. He deserved to get a goal. It was great to see."
The goalkeeper also feels Chelsea have a set of strikers that are the envy of the Premier League and will help Chelsea to challenge for silverware this season.
He added: "Having so many good strikers will definitely make a difference because you can't forget that the season is very long and we want to compete in every competition."
While new Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas was frustrated with the result, he doesn't see it as an early setback to his hopes of winning the title.
He said: "One point at Stoke is not bad, especially considering the amount of positive results Stoke had at home last season."
