Fifa 18 almost upon us as EA Sports have started to reveal their sought-after player ratings.

Real Madrid talisman Cristiano Ronaldo, fresh from winning his fourth Champions League, is the cover star and adorns the front of the video game series for the first time in his career.

He replaces Borussia Dortmund's Marco Reus and comes after long-time rival Lionel Messi's run of four covers in five editions.

Dele Alli features in the top 100 players with Fifa releasing more in the run-up to release, with the Tottenham star's famous 'wave' celebration also making the cut in-game.

But when will we be able to get our hands on the game? Read on to find out...

WHEN WILL FIFA 18 BE RELEASED?

Fifa 18 is set for a worldwide release on Friday, September 29.

However, access will be granted three days earlier if you pre-order either the 'Ronaldo Edition' or 'ICON Edition'. Players who have pre-ordered these versions will have access from Tuesday, September 26.

Xbox One or PC players will be able to try the game even earlier through EA Access or Origin Access. Both options cost either £3.99 per month or £19.99 for a year's subscription and will allow 10 hours of play time from Thursday, September 21.

WILL 'THE JOURNEY' BE BACK?

Yes. Alex Hunter returns in 'The Journey: Hunter Returns' after becoming a hit with its introduction in Fifa 17.

Andrew Wilson, CEO at EA, said in February: "FIFA 18 will build on the foundation we created with story mode this year, bringing players back to The Journey with Season 2, featuring new characters and new storylines,

"Our development team in Vancouver is delivering deeply innovative new experiences across this year's game.

"[This includes] an Ultimate Team, and creating the most emotionally immersive and connected FIFA we have ever produced."

WHAT'S NEW IN ULTIMATE TEAM?

The big news ahead of Fifa 18 is EA Sports ditching Legends - Ultimate Team's retired footballers - for multi-platform Icons.

Originally only available to Xbox One in Fifa 17, now all players will be able to stretch the legs of some of the game's biggest past names.
