The Journey has proved to be one of the best new additions to FIFA games in recent years and the new gameplay trailer shows its third instalment could be the best version yet.

The trailer's focus reveals the new mode, The Journey: Champions, which mainly revolves around Alex Hunter playing in the 2018-19 Champions League campaign, which is now officially licensed in the upcoming FIFA 19 game.

Since its introduction in FIFA 17, The Journey has won critical acclaim for its story mode which explores the trials and tribulations a young footballer coming through the ranks will face in his career.

In last year's title, we saw Alex Hunter play for MLS club LA Galaxy. This time, in FIFA 19, fans can jump into three distinctive stories of Alex Hunter, his sister Kim Hunter and best friend Danny Williams and switch between the trio as their careers play out.

All three protagonists' stories intertwine at the end, suggesting that Hunter and Williams could face up against each in the Champions League final, with Hunter pictured in his Real Madrid kit.

Players can also cross paths with some of the world's most famous footballers such as Kevin De Bruyne, Neymar, Alex Morgan and Paulo Dybala.

As always, you can customise Alex Hunter to appear how you want him to look. Change his personality to 'fiery' and a number of suitable hair styles and tattoos will appear as you create your character. For a more mellow character, select the 'Cool' option, which tends to have Hunter as a more laidback protagonist.

This is said to be the final instalment in the series of The Journey, which suggests EA Sports' designers have something else in store.

So enjoy Alex Hunter while you can; he may not be around much longer.
