Chelsea celebrated a return to the top of the Premier League table last night with a fireworks display at Stamford Bridge, as Antonio Conte led a 5-0 victory over Everton.
The saying will likely become ‘Remember, remember the 5-0 in November’ for Chelsea fans, as fireworks lit up Stamford Bridge to celebrate Guy Fawkes night before beating Everton ahead of the North London Derby, which could yet see Arsenal regain top spot.
As the Guy Fawkes display was timed to Mission Impossible, the Blues proved topping the pile was possible, with the first goal scored by Eden Hazard followed by Marcos Alonso’s just 23 seconds later.
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte hailed midfielder Eden Hazard a ‘complete player’, after his low shot followed by a superb second helped the team land the 5-0 win.
Conte said: “The most important thing I’m seeing with Eden is he’s fantastic with the ball and without the ball.
“I see that he’s working a lot for the team and I think his team-mates are very happy for this.
“He’s a complete player, when he plays in this way – with the ball and without the ball.”
Chelsea fan Kevin Kyley posted on Twitter: “5-0 win. Great night at Stamford Bridge tonight, thanks for the lovely fireworks – lovely little touch made my little 5 year olds night.”
Season ticket holder Richard Stevens, 55, said: "The fireworks was [an] amazing thing Chelsea Football Club did. Been going since 1974, the atmosphere was amazing."
Following the fireworks, Chelsea fans held up a remembrance flag with two large poppies, ahead of Remembrance Sunday on November 13.
