A Millwall fan who racially abused Leeds striker El-Hadji Diouf was today banned from football matches for five years by a court and ordered to pay more than £500.

Millwall have also banned Gerrard Scanlon for life from The Den after a Sky Sports News documentary showed him abusing the Senegal striker along with other supporters.

At Bromley Magistrates’ Court, the delivery driver from Enfield was fined £425 after admitting a charge of using threatening, abusive or insulting words likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress. He was told to pay £85 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.

The 53-year-old launched his rant at Diouf (above) during a match at The Den on November 18 but the Sky footage was only broadcast this month.

Milllwall said: “We are pleased the behaviour of this individual came to notice, and that the police and the courts have taken action against him. We will continue to operate a zero-tolerance policy.”
