Wesley Fofana says Leicester City feels like “a family” to him amid Chelsea’s attempts to bring the player to Stamford Bridge.
The Frenchman has emerged as a key target for Thomas Tuchel as the German bids to bring another defender to the club following the arrivals of Kalidou Koulibaly and Marc Cucurella.
Tuchel has admitted the club remain keen on further additions but Leicester certainly have previous when it comes to driving a hard bargain, having pushed Manchester United into paying a world-record fee for a defender when Harry Maguire moved to Old Trafford in 2019.
Despite their difficult summer, the club are believed to want another world-record fee to sell the 21-year-old, who still has five years to run on his contract.
Fofana became Chelsea’s priority target after the club missed out on deals for Jules Kounde, Nathan Ake, Matthijs de Ligt and Presnel Kimpembe.
Speaking to the Daily Telegraph as rumours continue to swirl, Fofana said: “Leicester is a family and I have felt that from the first day. I have always felt like a native of Leicester.
“It’s a big club and an institution but everyone has time for each other and understands. We are all brothers, sisters and cousins.”
