Emmanuel Frimpong’s bow for Championship side Barnsley lasted just half an hour after the midfielder was given his marching orders at Sheffield Wednesday.

The 22-year-old was dismissed when two careless tackles were both punished with a yellow card.

Frimpong joined the Tykes on Friday's transfer deadline day from Arsenal on a short-term permanent deal, after the clubs agreed an undisclosed fee.

And the midfielder went straight into Danny Wilson’s starting XI for the Yorkshire derby at Hillsborough before he was prematurely dismissed.

The Ghanaian International came through Arsenal's academy but struggled to progress under Arsene Wenger, failing to make an appearance this term.

Instead, Frimpong - who will now miss next Saturday's visit of Ipswich Town - found playing time during loan spells at Wolves, Charlton and Fulham.
