Former Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner could have found himself a new club just a week after he was released by German side Wolfsburg.

The Denmark international is currently training with his hometown club FC Copenhagen as he tries to prove his fitness.

Bendtner has struggled for form since leaving the Emirates Stadium two seasons ago and failed to play regularly at Wolfsburg.

Bendtner's deal was not set to expire until 2017 and Wolfsburg chief executive Klaus Allofs described the 28-year-old as "a menace to the team" in the wake of his departure.

Copenhagen boss Stale Solbakken is reluctant to let Bendtner's presence draw too much attention and told Ekstra Bladet: "He has a training plan which he follows.

“We don't want any fuss. There will be no talking to journalists. We do not want some big circus," he added.

Bendtner joined the Gunners as a teenager and scored 47 goals in 171 games before leaving the club as a free agent in 2014.
