Fulham vs Brentford lineups: Starting XI, confirmed team news, injury latest for London derby

Marc Mayo19 August 2023

Aleksandar Mitrovic is not in Fulham’s matchday squad to face Brentford this afternoon, while Mathias Jensen has passed a late fitness test and starts for the Bees.

Mitrovic was pictured in a protective boot last weekend after injuring his ankle when jumping for a ball in Fulham’s 1-0 win at Everton. The latest developments in Aleksandar Mitrovic’s future are not behind him being left out by Marco Silva, who benched the striker for the win at Everton amid Al-Hilal’s attempt to sign him.

Silva said: “He is out of the game because he rolled his ankle last game. He is not doing work with his team-mates because of the injury.

“The injury is not going to be serious. He’s not going to be out for three or four weeks. It’s in the other foot [from his ankle injury last season]. It’s not the same. It was when he jumped in the game [against Everton].”

Fulham have named new signing Raul Jimenez up front in his place, while Joao Palhinha has been named on the bench. Adama Traore could make his debut off the bench.

Thomas Frank was handed a fresh worry last weekend when Jensen went off against Tottenham with a thigh injury, however he is fit to play.

Kevin Schade enters the attack for a rejig to 4-3-3 and join Bryan Mbeumo in flanking Yoanne Wissa in Ivan Toney’s absence. Frank Onyeka is back from a hamstring issue and on the bench.

Ben Mee, however, has failed a late fitness check on his calf injury.
